What is the INTAI Assessment Suite™?
The INTAI Assessment Suite™ is a collection of free, self-service online assessments and training diagnostics covering AI readiness, opportunity, adoption, governance, risk, policy and executive oversight. Each assessment asks you to select the statements that apply to your organisation, then generates a personalised report with a score, a maturity level and practical next steps.
Explore: Assessments
How are assessments organised?
Assessments are grouped into four pathways: Discover AI, which covers readiness, opportunity and workforce capability; Embed AI, which covers adoption and tool-specific readiness such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot; Govern AI, which covers governance, risk, policy, vendor and assurance; and Lead AI, which covers executive, board, department and AI agent readiness. You can browse or filter by pathway on the Assessments page.
Explore: Assessments
Which assessment should I start with?
If you are unsure where AI governance currently stands in your organisation, the AI Governance Assessment or the AI Readiness Assessment are good starting points. If you are focused on a specific concern, such as vendor risk, policy coverage or executive oversight, choose the assessment that matches that concern directly; each assessment card on the Assessments page describes what it measures.
How accurate is my assessment result?
Your result reflects the statements you selected at the time you completed the assessment, so its accuracy depends on how completely and honestly you were able to answer. Results are indicative and self-reported rather than independently verified, and are intended to support your own internal review rather than to serve as a formal audit or certification. See our Assessment Methodology page for detail on how scores are calculated.
Is the INTAI Assessment Suite really free?
Yes. Every assessment and training diagnostic in the INTAI Assessment Suite™ is free to complete, with no obligation to purchase anything afterwards. We generate your report at no cost because we believe organisations benefit from a clear, structured starting point before deciding whether further support is needed.
Do I need to create an account to take an assessment?
No. You do not need to register for an account. Most assessments ask for basic contact details, typically your name, work email address and organisation, before you begin, so that we can generate and deliver your personalised report.
Explore: Privacy Policy
Why do you ask for my name and email before I start?
We ask for basic contact details before most assessments so we can generate and deliver your report to you directly, and so you can request a copy by email if you want to share it with colleagues. We explain this at the point of collection and confirm that the information is used only to generate and deliver your report; see our Privacy Policy for full detail.
Do I need any special software to take an assessment?
No. Assessments run directly in your web browser on desktop, tablet or mobile, using an up-to-date version of a mainstream browser such as Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. No downloads, plug-ins or account setup are required.
Explore: Privacy Policy
Are my assessment answers confidential?
Yes. Your responses and results are not published or shared publicly, and are not identified in any research we produce without your separate, explicit agreement. They are used to generate your report and, where relevant, to help us respond usefully if you get in touch afterwards. See our Privacy Policy for full detail on how this information is stored and used.
Explore: Assessment Methodology
Is completing an assessment the same as gaining a certification?
No. INTAI assessments are self-assessment diagnostics, not certifications. They do not result in a certificate equivalent to ISO/IEC 42001, ISO/IEC 27001, Cyber Essentials or any other formal accreditation, and they are not an audit against a named standard. They are designed to give you a clear, indicative starting point, which can then inform a decision about whether to pursue formal certification or further advisory support.

What does the AI Data Readiness Assessment cover?
The AI Data Readiness Assessment, part of the Govern AI pathway, looks at whether the data your organisation would rely on for AI systems is well governed, including data quality, access controls, lineage, retention and the safeguards needed before that data is used to train or inform an AI system.
Explore: Assessment Methodology
What are the domains shown in my report?
Each assessment is organised into a small number of equally weighted domains, for example, for the AI Governance Assessment, domains covering direction and accountability, risk-based decisions, policy and evidence, responsible use and human oversight, lifecycle control, and assurance and improvement. Your report shows a score for each domain so you can see where your strongest foundations and biggest gaps are, not just an overall number.
Can I go back and change an answer before I finish?
Yes. You can move between pages using the Previous Page and Continue Assessment buttons while you are completing an assessment, and change any selection until you generate your final report. Once your report has been generated, you would need to retake the assessment to change your answers.
Explore: Privacy Policy
Can I email my report to a colleague?
Yes. Once your report is generated, you can choose to email a copy of it, for example to a colleague, your leadership team or your own inbox for later reference. We use the email address you provide only to send that specific report, in line with our Privacy Policy.
How long does an assessment take?
Most assessments take between five and seven minutes to complete, depending on the assessment and how quickly you can review each statement. The exact estimate is shown on each assessment’s introduction page before you start, and your progress bar shows how far through you are as you go.
Explore: Assessment Methodology
What is the executive commentary in my report?
Alongside your scores, most reports include a short block of executive commentary that summarises your overall position in plain business language, intended to be useful if you need to share the result with senior leadership without walking them through every domain individually.
What if my question is not answered on this page?
This page covers the questions we are asked most often about the INTAI Assessment Suite™. If you cannot find what you are looking for, our Assessment Methodology page goes into more technical detail on how assessments are designed and scored, or you can contact our team directly and we will help.

Will INTAI contact me after I complete an assessment?
We may follow up with information that is genuinely relevant to the result you received, such as related assessments, research or an invitation to book a consultation, unless you have asked us not to. You are never obliged to respond, and you can opt out of further contact at any time by emailing enquiries@intai.co.uk.

What does the AI Governance Assessment measure?
The AI Governance Assessment™ measures how effectively your organisation governs AI across accountability, proportionate decision-making, policy and evidence, responsible use and human oversight, lifecycle control, and assurance and reporting, using 60 statements across six domains to produce an AI Governance Index™ and maturity level.
Can more than one person in my organisation complete the same assessment?
Yes, and for many organisations this is a useful way to compare perspectives; different people, such as a compliance lead, an IT lead and a business owner, may see current AI governance quite differently. There is no limit on how many times an assessment can be completed by different people within the same organisation.
Explore: Assessment Methodology
How do the assessment questions work?
Rather than multiple-choice questions, each assessment presents a series of practical statements grouped by page and domain. You select every statement that currently and accurately describes your organisation, and leave unticked any that do not apply. If none of the statements on a page apply, you can continue with that page recorded as no selections.
What happens if I close the browser before finishing?
Your answers are saved as you continue through the assessment on that device and browser session. However, if you close the browser or clear your browsing data before generating your report, you may need to begin the assessment again, since a partially completed assessment does not generate a report on its own.
Are the assessments relevant to my industry?
Yes. The statements in each assessment are written to apply across sectors, from financial services and healthcare to manufacturing, retail, the public sector and professional services. Where a specific statement genuinely does not apply to your organisation or sector, you can simply leave it unticked.
Explore: AI Readiness Assessment
I have not started using AI yet, is there still an assessment for me?
Yes. The AI Readiness Assessment and AI Opportunity Assessment, both in the Discover AI pathway, are designed for organisations at the very beginning of their AI journey, focusing on organisational readiness and where AI could realistically create value, rather than assuming AI is already in active use.

Where can I look up a term used in my report?
Terms used across our assessments and reports, such as AI governance, human oversight, model risk or bias, are explained in plain business language in our AI Glossary, which you can search or browse alphabetically.

What is the Lead AI pathway for?
The Lead AI pathway is designed for senior leaders, boards, departments and organisations exploring AI agents, and includes the Executive AI Maturity Assessment, Board AI Readiness Assessment, Department AI Readiness Assessment and AI Agents Readiness Assessment, each written from a leadership or oversight perspective rather than a hands-on operational one.
Explore: Assessment Methodology
What do the maturity levels in my report mean?
Each assessment maps your overall score onto a seven-level maturity scale, typically ranging from an early or unstructured stage through emerging, developing, controlled and governed levels, up to advanced and fully assured levels. Each level in your report is accompanied by a short summary of what it usually indicates and a recommended next step.
Can I take more than one assessment?
Yes. There is no limit on how many assessments you can complete, and many organisations use several together, for example the AI Readiness Assessment alongside the AI Governance Assessment, to build a fuller picture across discovery, adoption, governance and leadership.
What if none of the statements on a page describe my organisation?
That is a valid answer in itself. You can continue with that page recorded as no selections, and the assessment will reflect this in your domain score for that page. This is more accurate than selecting a statement that does not genuinely apply.
Are the assessments suitable for small organisations as well as large enterprises?
Yes. The statements are written to be meaningful for organisations of different sizes, from small and growing businesses to large, multi-department enterprises. Where a statement assumes a level of formality that would not be proportionate for a smaller organisation, for example a dedicated governance committee, you can answer based on how that responsibility is actually being handled in practice.

What does the AI Policy Assessment cover?
The AI Policy Assessment, part of the Govern AI pathway, reviews whether your organisation has clear, practical policies covering acceptable AI use, approvals, data handling and responsible use, and whether those policies are understood and followed rather than existing only on paper.
Can I download my report as a PDF?
Yes. Once your report is generated, you can download it as a PDF using the download option on the results page, so you can save it, print it or share it internally alongside your own governance or board papers.

What does the Prompt Engineering Assessment measure?
The Prompt Engineering Assessment, part of the Embed AI pathway, measures how effectively individuals and teams are able to write clear, structured prompts and get reliable, useful output from generative AI tools, which directly affects the practical value an organisation gets from everyday AI use.

Do I need a certain score before I can book a consultation?
No. You can book a consultation with our team regardless of your score. In fact, a lower score is often exactly when a consultation is most useful, since it helps identify the highest-priority gaps to address first; equally, organisations with strong scores often use a consultation to validate results and plan the next stage of maturity.
Explore: Assessment Methodology
What is included in my assessment report?
Depending on the assessment, your report typically includes your overall index score and maturity level, a score for each domain, your strongest existing foundations, your priority gaps, executive commentary, and a practical roadmap of near-term actions, for example a 90-day plan, so the result is something you can act on rather than a number alone.
Can I retake an assessment later to see if my score has improved?
Yes. Assessments can be retaken at any time, and many organisations do so every few months or after implementing changes, to track progress in a specific area such as governance, risk management or policy coverage.
Explore: AI Risk Assessment
What is the difference between the AI Risk Assessment and the AI Risk Classification Assessment?
The AI Risk Assessment looks broadly at how AI-related risk is identified, assessed and managed across the organisation. The AI Risk Classification Assessment looks specifically at whether AI use cases are being classified by their level of risk, for example in a way consistent with risk-tiered approaches such as the EU AI Act, so that higher-risk uses receive proportionately greater scrutiny.
Explore: Assessment Methodology
How is my score calculated?
Each statement you select contributes a fixed amount toward the maximum score for its domain. Domain scores are added together to produce your overall index score out of the assessment’s maximum, which is then mapped onto a maturity level. The full methodology, including domain weighting, is explained on our Assessment Methodology page.

Will INTAI share my results with anyone outside my organisation?
No. We do not share your individual assessment responses or results with third parties for their own marketing purposes, and we do not publish identifiable results without your separate, explicit agreement. See our Privacy Policy for full detail on how assessment data is used and shared.

What should I do if an assessment will not load or I do not receive my report by email?
First, try refreshing the page or switching browsers, since this resolves most loading issues. If you completed an assessment but did not receive your report by email, check your spam or junk folder first; if it still has not arrived, contact our team at enquiries@intai.co.uk with the assessment you completed and roughly when, and we will help.

Some of the language in my report is unfamiliar, where can I find definitions?
Our AI Glossary explains the terminology used across our assessments and reports in plain business language, including governance, risk and technical terms, and can be searched or browsed by letter.

My score was lower than I expected, what does that mean?
A lower score simply means fewer of the statements in that assessment currently and accurately describe your organisation; it is not a judgement, and most organisations score lower on their first assessment than they expect. Your report highlights priority gaps and practical next steps precisely so a lower score becomes a useful starting point rather than a discouraging one.

What does the AI Use Case Assessment help with?
The AI Use Case Assessment helps you evaluate a specific, proposed use of AI, looking at whether it addresses a genuine business need, has realistic value, suitable data, operational feasibility and manageable risk, which is useful when deciding whether to progress a particular idea.
Explore: AI Vendor Assessments
What does the AI Vendor Assessment cover?
The AI Vendor Assessment, part of the Govern AI pathway, reviews how well your organisation assesses and manages AI-related risk from third-party vendors and tools, including due diligence, contractual safeguards, data handling and ongoing oversight of vendor-provided AI systems.

I think I found an error in an assessment or report, what should I do?
Please let us know. We regularly review and improve the content of the INTAI Assessment Suite™, and genuine reports of unclear statements, incorrect links or technical issues help us do that. Contact our team at enquiries@intai.co.uk with as much detail as you can, including the assessment name and, if possible, a screenshot.
Explore: Our Approach
Why does INTAI offer these assessments for free?
We built the INTAI Assessment Suite™ because most organisations benefit from a clear, structured view of where they stand before deciding what to do next, and we would rather that starting point be freely available than locked behind a sales conversation. Where an organisation wants further support acting on its results, that is available separately as a paid engagement, but there is never an obligation to purchase anything.
Explore: Privacy Policy
Can I ask you to delete my assessment data?
Yes. You can ask us to delete the personal information and results associated with your assessment at any time by contacting enquiries@intai.co.uk, subject to the limited exceptions described in our Privacy Policy, for example where we are required to retain certain records by law.

How do these assessments relate to ISO 42001, ISO 27001 or Cyber Essentials?
Our assessments are informed by the themes covered in recognised frameworks such as ISO/IEC 42001 for AI management, ISO/IEC 27001 for information security, the UK Cyber Essentials scheme, the EU AI Act and the NIST AI RMF, and can help you gauge readiness before pursuing formal certification. They are not a substitute for that certification process itself, which involves an accredited independent certification body; INTAI is itself currently working toward ISO/IEC 42001, ISO/IEC 27001 and Cyber Essentials, and we are open about that being in progress rather than complete.
Explore: Assessment Methodology
Can I compare my results between different assessments or over time?
Within a single assessment, retaking it later lets you compare your score, domain breakdown and maturity level against your earlier result to track change. Comparing across different assessments is less direct, since each measures a different topic with its own domains and scoring, though the same seven-level maturity scale structure is used consistently across the suite.
Are the assessments available in other languages or accessible formats?
Assessments are currently presented in English. If you need support completing an assessment because of an accessibility requirement, contact our team at enquiries@intai.co.uk and we will do our best to help, for example by talking through the statements with you directly.

What does the Board AI Readiness Assessment measure?
The Board AI Readiness Assessment, part of the Lead AI pathway, measures whether a board has the understanding, information and oversight mechanisms needed to govern AI-related decisions and risk at a governance level, distinct from day-to-day operational management.

Why are there separate assessments for ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot?
Different generative AI tools raise different practical questions around configuration, data handling and rollout, so the ChatGPT Readiness Assessment and Microsoft Copilot Readiness Assessment are tailored to the specific considerations relevant to each tool, in addition to the broader AI Adoption Assessment.
How do I start over if I want to redo an assessment from the beginning?
Simply navigate back to the assessment’s starting page and begin again; there is no limit on how many times you can start or restart an assessment, and an earlier incomplete attempt does not need to be formally cleared first.

Who is the Executive AI Maturity Assessment designed for?
The Executive AI Maturity Assessment is designed for senior executives who want a leadership-level view of how mature their organisation’s overall approach to AI is, covering strategic direction, investment decisions, governance and organisational capability, rather than a technical or department-level review.
